There is a very widespread idea when we talk about bioarchitecture:
“It's more expensive.”
“It only works for isolated houses in the countryside.”
“It is difficult to fit into regulations.”
They are phrases that we hear constantly. but sometimes, All you need is to look at real examples..
Today I want to talk to you about a project that dismantles many myths: las 24 public housing in Playa d’en Bossa (Ibiza), projected by 08014 architecture.
A public housing project with a limited budget, with strict regulations and economic control. But it incorporates clear criteria of passive architecture and bioconstruction.

Sustainable architecture in a housing block
We talk about 24 officially protected housing. And still, incorporates principles of the bioarchitetura and the sustainable architecture.
Let's see how.
- – Enclosure with high thermal inertia. Thermoclay walls filled with the earth from the excavation are built. This not only reduces waste and transportation of materials. It also generates an envelope with a great capacity for thermal inertia.. Less dependence on air conditioning and more passive comfort.
- – Cross ventilation. The homes are designed to promote natural cross ventilation.
- – Thermal regulation through patios. One of the most interesting elements is the coverage of the patios with glass enclosure systems and solar protection.. Patios act as thermal regulators, capturing heat in winter and protecting from excess solar energy in summer.

Bioarchitecture is not a dirt cabin
This project demonstrates something very important: Bioarchitecture is not an alternative house lost in the countryside.
It is a way of thinking about architecture.
Here we talk about:
- – A complete block of 24 housing
- – In urban and tourist environment
- – With public budget
- – Complying with regulations
And it has been the administration itself who has trusted this approach.
This shows that the bioarchitetura is viable at the level:

- – Normative
- – Technical
Many times, what limits is not the regulations. It's the mentality.

Healthy house and public housing: accessible wellness
We tend to think that building better means building more expensive.
But it often means building smarter..
- – Optimize resources.
- – Think about the weather.
- – Use thermal mass.
- – Promote natural ventilation.
The sustainable architecture does not always imply a higher cost. Implies greater coherence.
And architecture can be an active part of well-being, even in public housing.
